Could not establish connection to Steam servers [Resolved]
#1
Hey guys.

I'm trying to host two dedicated servers for Gmod using the same IP address.
Now, my first server runs perfectly fine, VAC mode enabled, connected to the Steam servers and all. My other server, though, can not connect to Steam.

This is what I find written in the console:

Could not establish connection to Steam servers.
VAC mode disabled.

My server can run, and people can join, but they get kicked after a few minutes for the reason: Invalid Steam UserID Ticket.

All of my ports are forwarded, I'm running these on the same computer using the same IP address.

I'm using the AssMod addon, I have 4gb of ram and am running Vista 64-bit.
My processor is a AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Processor +6000 with 3.0 GHZ.

How can I fix this?

It sounds like you only forwarded port 27015. Be sure to forward ports 27000-27040 UDP and TCP. Smile

Good luck!

Plus port 1200.

Do I allow this port for my firewall or do I add it in the command line for the server?

EDIT: It seems I already have added 1200 UDP... Weird.

That is for your personal Steam client. So if you are unable to download games or connect to Steam friends, then you would need to forward that Smile

Try disabling your firewall for now for testing.

Disabling my firewall didn't work. I disabled both Windows Firewall and McAfee firewall. Any ideas why that won't work?

Actually, now it says it's VAC secured, but when starting it up it didn't say
"connection to Steam servers successful."

Do you think it's alright?

Thanks, I woke up today and saw that people who joined were not kicked.

Thanks for all your help! Big Grin
