Um, why would you spend that much on a game server when you could build one that would run 10 servers for like 1/10 the cost?

Ohh we're gonna do the "I'm so smart and you're so stupid game" ok, let's play that.

First of all, you obviously don't know jack shit about servers or PCs, so can you do any justification on that setup? Are you aware of the restrictions of a dual xenon system? Are you aware of the power and heat requirements? You said to "DISCARD" your internet connection (I'm gonna assume you meant disregard and are just stupid), but the problem is that you think spending $8,000 on a PC is going to give you lots of servers, when in reality ALL that matters is your internet connection. Upstream bandwidth is what kills servers, not any of the bullshit stuff you picked off newegg because it was expensive. If you're on DSL you could run just as many servers with a PC built for $400 because YOU HAVE TO HAVE BANDWIDTH.

In the future, either 1) try to learn before you go off half cocked trying to spend daddy's credit card, or 2) don't be such a gigantic douche bag when someone asks you a simple question.

Also those HDDs suck.

2x E5520s - 759.98
S5520SC - 519.99

Theres $1300 just on your CPUs and mobo. That includes nothing else (not to mention that memory probably won't work on that mobo). It doesn't include a case that will fit that mobo, both of the power supplies you're going to need because that intel board takes 2x R5 connections, proper cooling etc.

Please just stop.

IT WILL RUN A LOT OF SERVERS OK? OFC THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING ITS LIKE ASKING HOW MANY SERVERS A CRAY WILL RUN.

I really can't teach you all this stuff. Go read some reviews, check mobo compatibility charts, see all the problems people are having making 1333 memory work with xenons, etc.

Okay got 1066 memory is there anything else i need to change? OH i want to get the Xaser computer case but i was looking for a case that was not a server case because all of the pedestal ones look like shit, so i found that case and it says it is SSI compatible. If you can confirm this it would save me thanx. This is if the motherboard would fit.

I also heard it was 10 Megabits for each 32 man server so like if i had like 5 32 man servers and a 50mb upload and download it would use all of that and if i would try to run another server if would lag is that correct? I would get a huge bandwidth cap i have read this before on as that shit just need this question answered thanx in advanced.

You're not running any 32-man TF2 server with cores running at 2.26GHz.
Most people agree that you need at least 2.4GHz to run a good 24-man TF2 server.

Please do not PM me for server related help
fqdn Wrote:if you've seen the any of the matrix movies, a game server is not all that different. it runs a version of the game that handles the entire world for each client connected. that's the 2 sentence explanation.
