-tickrate 100 problem
#1
Sad
hi!

i set up a src dedicated server on windows xp
everything works fine the server runs @ 100fps with the parameter -tickrate 100

but when one player connects, the server drops to 64fps!
everytime and it stays there.

what should i do to get stable 100 fps on the server?

ok tickrate has nothing to do with FPS add this command to your startup:

+fps_max 600

THEN Run Windows Media Player in the background to get youer server to run at max FPS (which is a little above 500 and not 600 for real)

600 is the highest variable that you can use with fps_max

Could someone explain this, I have seen alot of people talking about repeating something in Media Player. Could someone point me in the direction that could explain it.

Media Player makes windows processors work in a higher level of processing. It just basically adds FPS (good). Running WMP will turn on the higher level and BOOM more fps.

Ok guys,

How exactly do I check what my current tickrate is?
I have full access to a dedicated server, not just some game server that i have to call a company to make anything happen.

I have read the fourms reguarding the tickrate and I am still wondering if I have done it right and if so how do I check it..

I have set the fps to 600 and got that working just fine...

Here is what is in my windows2003 server scrds command line parmiter...

D:\SOURCE\srcds.exe -tickrate 100 +fps_max 600 -autoupdate -pingboost 3 +66.219.100.9:27015

I tried putting -console in but when I did that, a black box came up and the server was loaded and it showed me that i have around 500 fps, but it would not let me into the game or even show that is was responding inmy favorites...

This is a pic of my net_graph 3, I have no idea what this means either...

Can you tell what my current tickrate is by looking at this, and if so how, what are you looking at, what does it mean..

Can someone please explain it to me in dumb man's terms....PLZ?

When I try to scrim ppl tell me that I have a crappy server, but they never tell me why...

If you need more info just tell me and I will provide it...

Thank you..Wink

If you use mani's admin mod, theres something that will display your servers tickrate. I'm not too sure about other plugins. And I don't know of anyway to check it through console, etc.

A token will display tickrate in mani.

But if you join a server with mani type this in your client console:

ma_version

And it will show this:

Mani Admin Plugin Blah Blah....

So you mean that you could run your comp much faster just by having WMP going? Smile

Try adding -game "cstrike" to the startup command line and it will hopefully just work fine Big Grin.

Are you just spamming this line around:

because they probably wouldn't have a css server if they didn't already do that.

Well I am not sure exactly. All I know is that it boosts performance in SRCDS. It wont make your comp faster, and you should use the program srcdsfpstboost.exe.

Download the small app here:

http://jupiter.walagata.com/w/nsf924/srcdsfpsboost.zip

But you will not see a boost in performance, as I have srcdsfps_boost run as a service in the background. I have noticed no changes. And in game it adds mayby 10-20 fps.

Sorry inc0gs, but I'm just trying to help. I couldn't see that he had added -game "cstrike" to his startup line, and therfor I told him to add that!
I had that same error with the console, and that because I forgot to put -game "cstrike" to the line.

I'm very sorry if you don't like my way of helping others, but I like to start from the beginning when solving problems (the basic commands first, and then the rest).
