What is god with high/low fps?

high fps HLDS = Better ping, smoother gameplay, better hitbox (i think).

Mostly right.

If it's a FFA(Free for all) server, you shouldn't got with a high FPS.

However if it's a private server(war server), go with a higher FPS.

the engine of css do not more then 333fps normally the higher fps 500/1000 are fake and produce more cpu load. There is no better gameplay, thats only advertising for the game hosters.

Very important is that all FPS results should be constant.

untrue. lower fps lead to higher software latencies which are basically unpredictable but essential to the interpolation / lag compensation.

but: the differences are small, as not the fps value is important but the inverse of the fps value (i.e. the time per frame). thus the difference between 100 and 200 fps is the same as between 500 and 1000.

but you are right in one point: the fps need to be stable, basically the same argument (predictable behavior).

but...
there are a lot of forums about these and most of them give the same result > its only more CPU load but no really effect.

there are no really differences between 33/500 and 1000. Normally you should use 500 (it doesnt matter for the system) but i think there is no different. I tried some test system > alle the guys said no different. I think its for each person different and more > its more imagine.

I agree, that does not say it is notably better. I doubt anyone (including me) has done e.g. a double blind test to compare 500 and 1000 fps or so.

but, the increase in CPU load is only marginally (if the kernel is configured correctly). the server is doing the same amount of calculations etc. if running at 1000 fps. the only difference is *when* it does it. of course the higher fps create some additional overhead, but that doesn't really matter. it takes only a couple of microseconds for the server to render a frame that did not do anything. so using 1000 instead of 500 fps may create an increase of 1% in the cpu load or so (remember that neither top, ps, vmstat or the server itself display reliable the cpu load).

that leads to only one conclusion: try both and use what is better. fps drops are much more evil than constant "low" fps (e.g. 333), that is for sure (I have done involuntarily a double blind test for this).

I can tell the difference between 250/500/1000 especially when bunnyhopping. There IS definitely a difference!
