srcdsfpsbooster causing massive cpu increase
#1
I'm not sure if this is normal or not..

the task manager to the left is without srcdsbooster, the one to the right is with it. Look at the fourth core.

Is this normal?.

I'm sorry?. I thought a booster changed the kernel timings?. I still don't understand why it would use such a massive amount of cpu over no booster considering there was no difference according to netgraph (Besides perhaps a little bit extra stutter in it, but we are talking micro. And I'm talking about the bandwidth graph.)

The booster makes the server be able to run at a faster rate 500 frames per second rather than the standard 100 fps. The fps on a server tells how many times to calculate the world a second, so you will always see a cpu spike when you turn on the booster.

It is perfectly normal. The fpsbooster is what it sounds like, boosts the fps, again in Pengy's description, the fps tells how many times to calculate the world a second. Therefor, more resources are being used to boost the fps.

Very well said Smile

This is why some Game Server companies charge extra for the FPS Boost.

They actually charge up the ass for those pointless 1,000 FPS CSS servers...
But hey, if people want to pay $500 a month, more power to them!

Has that ever stopped a company?
I saw a company sell 100 Tic TF2 servers. This is of course impossible. When I tried to explain that what he was doing was impossible, he said that his techs know what they are doing. A few months later they stopped selling 100 Tic servers Toungue
