Can I run it on a VPS?
#1
Question
I was lookin at these, http://x10hosting.com/vps.php. I want only VPS1 or VPS2 because they are under $20. Do you think SRCDS woud run on them? Maybe max 10 players?

You might be better off renting from a game server provider for cheaper prices and better quality.

NOTE TO ALL GSP'S: DON'T ADVERTISE HERE Toungue

Running a server on a VPS would probably not be good because you wont get enough processing power because its being shared by many people and its does have much ram, the VPS2 only burst up to 354 MB which will hinder your server severely

beaver thats why they invited the pm system Smile

Again, running a server on a VPS is NOT recommended. Because of the high CPU usage of SRCDS, there are often timing issues when running in a VM which makes causes lags or crashes. I would recommend NOT running a server on a VPS. I will STAB YOU if you tried to run a company selling server that are running on a VPS.

I do agree. Wink

It would be better to buy a server from a company and then sell it agian.(If it's legal). However I wouldn't recommend that. I'd recommend to buy a dedicated server and then colocate it.

I WOULDN'T recommend VPSland right now!

I've tried running my server on all of the Windows operating systems they have except for Windows 2003 because I didn't have an activation code for that one.

If you're planning on running a Garry's Mod server and you want a VPS, don't get VPSLAND for now. I am trying my best looking for a solution, I must say I did make progress.
If you have bought a VPS and you're fucked up with the "ServiceService: failed to load" Or something like that then try installing steam, it will shorten your error and make sure its running as a service.
To do that go to your start menu and click on 'Run' and then type 'msconfig' then go to the services tab and then tick the checkbox 'Hide all Microsoft services'.
If its a VPS then very few will appear.
Look for "Steam Client Server" it wasn't running at first after I installed steam on my VPS but it is now after entering the password and doing remember password and restarting.
Sorry if any of this is not clear to you, its just I dont have the patience, this is the third time I'm writing something like this.
