I feel like I've read every post available on how to setup a dedicated CSS server and yet I can't help but feel I should be able to run a faster server than this, or at least more people.

Right now I have 17 bots loaded and the server, for the most part, will run at 250 FPS. I only have ONE instance of SRCDS running (no other programs, services, etc...) and the server will still drop to 35-65 FPS at times.

I currently host the server out of my company's server closet on bonded T1's but will be moving it to a colocation with 10Mb up/down.

Given these specs what "speed" (i.e. tickrate, fps, slots, etc...) of server should I expect?

Here's the results of the "stats" command running with 17 people. This is what it does towards the beginning of the map before anyone has died. When I run Task Manager on the server I see it pegging the core during this time so I know "why" it's dropping the FPS but shouldn't a 3 GHz Xeon be able to handle a 17 slot, 250 FPS, 75 Tick server?

Bots eats your CPU. Get players on your server or no one.. Then show us some stats. Wink

I'll give that a try tonight, I have recruited a bunch of friends to help test it.

Here's my question about bots though: how much more CPU would a bot take up (on average) versus a human player, percentage-wise? What I'm trying to find out is if I can run a server with X number of bots without lag, that means I can run that same server with Y number of humans?

Out of my experience, players takes extremely low CPU resources. My server uses 5% CPU when it's empty, and 7% when I got 6-10 people in. ^^

Bots on the other hand uses alot more, I can't give you exact percentages though.

It’s certainly important to have good server performance, but there are also some more subtle reasons why server performance is so important. Server performance is the ability to provide any website with whatever service it needs to function properly on any device. So, we are providing nursing assignment help to the medical staff who are looking for similar information. If your server performance isn’t up to snuff, your site could break down in just about any situation.
