OK, please help me.
hey im trying to set up a tf2 dedicated server, i have ports forwarded properly, but get "steam validation rejected" from any computer trying to connect to it
yes, ive looked at the FAQ, and no help
yes, i promise you my ports are forwarded, ive checked and double checked
yes, ive searched the forums
i may be asking for the impossible, but please any help will be great, i can post more info if you need

Are you using a legal version of TF2 to connect to the server?
Is the client online?

yea, i just bought the orange box a couple of weeks ago, and downloaded the dedicated server for TF2 from steam tools
I basicly want to set up a sever so a few of my friends and I can play TF2 on a private server to get up some achievements, public servers are annoying for leveling up achievements

Are you running the server off the same computer you play on? Are you using the steam tools one or the hldsupdate tool one

i assume the steam tools one, i simply clicked on the tools tab, and then on the TF2 dedicated server thing, and it started up, it was already downloaded. I do play on this computer but i have been trying to get the server up and since then i have been getting my friend to try to log on it from a comp not on my network, my server doesnt show up on the public server list like i expect either. should i try to find this other version of the program?

Use the guild on srcds.com
It will use the hldsupdatetool
