SRCDS Problem
#1
Hey all

Right, so i made a srcds server running on the computer i play on, and that works perfectly fine and people can connect. But as i knew making a server on the same computer was bad, i created a server on the spare computer in my house.

Now heres the problem. I have set up a static IP on the computer, opened all the required ports for it, yet i cannot get the server to work. If me or anybody else trys to join they get a, "connection failed after 4 tries," error.

Please help me, thanks Smile

Did you disabled the firewall?
It can be the problem.

Yea, i have tried disabling the firewall as well, but it still doesn't work, so ill continue to host on the pc i play on as its working fine for me and players

Thanks for your help

The problem is being caused because of the fact you are running the server on the same computer you play on. Check my signature for the link, and please take a moment to read through it carefully.

Please post the local IP to the server and a picture of your portforwarding.

wow i never go into that much detail when port forwarding. lol. nways definatly something blocking the connections.
Although u have a set number of ports for both computers??? try getting rid of the computer you play on in ur router.
Hang on, whats ur startup line?
Cause you only need ONE port for people to play. You have MANY open for it? Choose one port eg... 27020.
for tcp AND udp eg.... for 192.168.1.2 TCP 27020 UDP 27020. And get rid of the rest Smile

Startup line reads eg.. srcds.exe -console -port 27020 -game cstrike +maxplayers 16 +exec server.cfg and/or whatever other commands u like

You have the same ports open to different IPs. That's impossible.
Remove the first 6 rules as a start...

you can try a dmz, also a little off topic but you can take auto update out of the startup line it donest work in windows. also add the port in it -port 270XX
