Hey guys.

Who agrees with me on this, there has been heaps of updates over the last few months and the fact i run 4 servers its really getting on my bloody nerves. Im actually refraining myself from just blurting out along string of profanity.

**5mins later after a deep breath**

Ok, now Ive calmed down a bit i'll make a clear point as to why this is reddiculous. The changes the updates make are INCREDIBLY minor.

There have been 5 updates so far and we are barely half way through the month. Now lets look at the things affecting servers here:

Code:
Server changes

Fixed players being kicked from servers with an INVALID_STEAM_TICKET rejection

Added a message to the server console to show when the server has reconnected to Steam

The first one there mentioned was a minor issue affecting an extreme minority of people. The second one, what the hell? Why? If any idiot is leaving his server to reconnect itself then they probably don't care anyway.

Both of these updates could have waited till a later release.

I really wish they would release updates less often.

The INVALID_STEAM_TICKET rejection issue was actually a HUGE problem. It would kick EVERYONE out of a game. That was a needed fix. You are also missing several other changes.

Before you complain about updates, consider the other side. Would you rather bugs stayed unresolved? Think about all the exploits and bugs they have fixed. What you are basically saying is that you want a buggy server that gets hacked.

Now I understand that valve isn't the best at patching (half the updates fix things that another update broke) but better too many updates then not enough.

Check out the hlds listserv. Valve is made up of REAL people. They comment on posts and release notes under their real name and e-mail address. They also have been know to respond to direct e-mails.

Please do not PM me for server related help

VAVLe's support is amazing in my opinion.

Also the support over Steam! Damn I like it!

Yes, I know what you mean.

All im calling for is that they release bigger updates less often. How can you possibly justify almost 3 updates in less than 2 weeks?

You ever notice how they release a big update, and have to release updates every day to fix what they screwed up? Then they leave it alone for a few months... They the whole process starts over again.

What makes me mad is how they change the gameplay. It seems sometimes the tricks I used before, don't work after the next update. Like the one where you couldn't jump to a free standing sentry as engineer (unless you built a dispenser next to it). They fixed that 2 updates later though (thank goodness).

sure the updates are annoying because valve always seems to break something it this updates but you just need to restart your server so it isnt all that bad
