Sounds like a plan, also I mainly am doing this to get achievements. So I was looking at this topic...

http://forums.srcds.com/viewtopic/5264/last

...so from what I'm reading it's not a good idea to run a server and also play in it lol.

Alright so now we are on day 2 and I have everything for srcds downloaded
[Image: errorcgr.png]

So I created a .bat file with these instructions.

c:\srcds\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf -hostport 27015 +maxplayers 24 +map ctf_2fort

And it loads this.

Now as far as it shows the server is up and running although as you can see it has three types of errors.

1.a) missing 'particles/error.pcf'

2.a) exec:couldn't exec skill1.cfg
2.b) exec:couldn't exec server.cfg
2.c) exec:couldn't exec ctf_2fort.cfg

3.a) steamservice.cpp <275> : Assertion Failed: Failed to start in-process Steam service.

Now at this point I can make an attempt to join the server with the IP and port but as you may have guessed it is not responding.

Any help on this new situation would be greatly appreciated.

The first error is a standard error. You can't fix this Smile

cerulean86 Wrote:2.a) exec:couldn't exec skill1.cfg
2.b) exec:couldn't exec server.cfg
2.c) exec:couldn't exec ctf_2fort.cfg

2.a) Create a skill1.cfg in C:/srcds/orangebox/cfg
2.b) Create a server.cfg.cfg in C:/srcds/orangebox/cfg
2.c) Create a ctf_2fort.cfg in C:/srcds/orangebox/cfg

Do portforwarding Smile

Also, your first post.. It's not -dir C:HLServer.

It's: -dir C:/HLServer.

Alright, I've done everything you mentioned. I created the cfg files you said to, however they have nothing in them and as you can see they still show up as errors. Was I suppose to put something inside the cfg files? Also I have opened the ports and set my IP static.

Code:
2.a) Create a skill1.cfg in C:/srcds/orangebox/tf/cfg
2.b) Create a server.cfg.cfg in C:/srcds/orangebox/tf/cfg
2.c) Create a ctf_2fort.cfg in C:/srcds/orangebox/tf/cfg

That folder Smile
(orangebox/tf/cfg)

Do the server work?

My server.cfg file.

The server console is giving the same error msg even with all the cfg files in the folder you mentioned.

As you can see here the game server is also not responding when i try to connect to the IP in game.

You're wrong with the .cfg files. I can see they are named "Text file"!
(ctf_2fort.cfg.txt)

Give me the IP, I can check for you Smile

EDIT: I checked up on your IP. I can see it! It's online Smile
(I hope you don't mind)

Okay realchamp I changed the files into the right type, and I am going to attempt to join the server again.

Alright so I started the server and, again I have the same errors.

Next I will see if I can join the server.

The skill1.cfg could be named skill1.cfg.cfg. (Also with server.cfg)

Just test before trying my new post.

Also, the IP I looked up at, is your current IP(from the computer you are using right now).

Alright I changed the filename to "skill1.cfg.cfg" and it still gives the same error msg for 2 of the cfg files.

I am trying to run the server and play in it on the same computer, I thought this wasn't a problem.

Edit: I just had a friend try to join my server and they are getting the same errors as me.
