i tried some other kernel and compared the resullts. i had a kernel with IN of 6000 and a kernel with IN 20. The Kernel with 6000 gave me better FPS results as the other one?`is that normal?

I would expect the opposite... with 2.6.29-rt (don't know the exact numbers anymore) I got also a few 1000 IN and more unstable fps. But maybe if you have a kernel relying on interrupts for the timer (I think hrtimer is not, else IN could not be below 1000 if we get 1000 fps... so this might mean a kernel without hrtimer support) you need a IN of a few 1000...

but with 2.6.29rt you will get a laggy unstable server. the tick at hl1 ist very unstable.

maybe because of the high interrupt rate... my srcds were a little more unstable, but not seriously. nevertheless I switched back ^^

Ive been having some issues as well, im forced to run 2.6.28 or newer (2.6.29.1 as of now, 1000HZ) because the machine is an I7 and the onboard nic isn't supported in earlier versions. The machine is going to run HLDS only, but for the life of me i cannot achieve stable fps without screwing up the time in game (the in-game clock goes incrementally faster with any sys_ticrate above 1000) I have tried everything on google i could find, sys_ticrate 1001 pingboost 3 seems to give the best results but no matter what i do if i chrt the game cpu usage instantly jumps to 50%+ with no one on the server.
