You should post your configs so we can look.

I've tried alot of kernels above that and I havent had any problems with HL2.
Currently I'm on 2.6.29-rc7.

mh how many fps do you have? is your system a quad core too?
could you give me your config to try it on my system?

pb3 and ticrates>2000 oftenly increase the game speed, just dont use that combination.

i had no big problems but "only" an increased irq load, so i switched back to 2.6.26 (with RT patches)

Only 4% max on a 3.2 Ghz Quad core

cpu usage is typically not measured correctly (I know 3-4 ways to measure it, all completely different results in the same moment)

Stats in console, top in ssh, VNC and view resource monitor... thats all i know how, all of them show way different things... i think the resouce monitor is the most accurate though

"vmstat 1" gives you some useful information. only starting with the the second line it seems to be accurate. but I wouldn't look too much at the cpu usage. more interesting are the interrupt rates ("in") and the context switch rates ("cs"), which might be very different among different kernels. if you change your kernel and still achieve the same fps but get lower "cs" and "in", it will be an improvement (less cpu load).

That's what I get on my server (note, the first line differs much from the rest, probably bullshit). I don't know it those values are good, but it works for me...
