Q6600 or Q9550
#1
Which one should I pick, the connection is gonna be a 25mbit fiberline.
Would the Q6600 max it out and will it run SRCDS at 1000 FPS as fine as the Q9550?

Both would be fine for SRCDS Smile.

The Q9550 will give you a more power. However, the Q6600 works fine. It really depends on how many slots you want and for what game. The Q9550 will give you more slots per core.

As a note, when you take into account overclocking the Q9550 is the clear winner if you intend to do it. The Q6600 won't get to much more than 3.4GHz stable but the Q9550 can hit 4GHz as an average, i.e. you can get higher but thats the highest you can hit solidly stable.

I wouldn't recommend overclocking a server though. That's just asking for trouble.

True, But I do know a guy in particular who has a hugely overclocked CPU in his home server and its been running soldily for over a year.

As a note, the Q9450 in itself is essentially just an underclocked Q9550. Just to let you know.

Although agreed, I would recommend against it, i just thought it was an important point to make.

So would Q6600 max out a 25/25mbit connection?

It should... Wink

Probably like 32 Slots per core?

But if it's a landline to your home / neighborhood... Max you would get would be 50 slots.. then your internet company will start reducing the bandwidth because you will have used a lot of it...

That's what I've heard...

Not when its fiber and its unlimited? Might be different than in the US though (Im in Denmark).
(I have maxed out 2mbit constantly so far with no problems and I am going to switch ISP to get fiber).
