and when i add to command line +fps_max 600 and run my srcds and in css ingame type rcon stats i have only 100FPS

i'm newbie in linux things so i read a litlebit on forum how to get 500fps on my serwer but i can't find anything that work for me.

see my howto linked in the signature. I always recommend 64 bit btw, your hardware can do that so use it. apart from that you basically need a recent kernel to get higher fps (not necessarily patched in some particular way, even gentoo sources are fine) and an adjusted scheduling for stability.

still, since the orange box update the optimum choice is to run the server with stable 66fps (= tickrate). any higher fps will not do any good and only waste resources (which might be better used for something important instead).

usually 2.6.35 should give you 1000 fps easily. either you did something wrong during kernel configuration (did you do it yourself, or did you use genkernel?) or the problem is somewhere else. still, all I am saying is from experience with 64 bit (also gentoo btw), so I cannot tell you whether that might be a problem as well...

The guide is safe as long as you follow it.

as I mentioned: the rt-patches are no longer really important, as the most important stuff is included in the mainline kernel since several releases. so even your current kernel version should be fine, maybe just some settings are wrong. maybe you can find the sources (incl. the config) of your currently installed kernel, so you can directly modify it (make sure to make a copy of the .config file to be able to revert to the original state).

I am having some problems with ubuntu server maverick 10.10 32 bit. I applied 2.6.33.7 with rt29 patch. Stock kernel (2.6.35-22-generic-pae) got ~ 300 fps with fps_max 0. With compiled kernel I get ~ 500 fps. Does 64 bit work better? I heard from somewhere that ubuntu server edition easily get 1000 out-of-the-box, so I disappointed a bit.

The result is even worse than desktop version's. With desktop version, fps ~ 600 fps, patched kernel get > 900 fps stable.

although you should not post into foreign threads your different problem, you still are allowed to read them Toungue the answer (at least my opinion) is right in this thread.

So in your opinion, 64 bit works better? I am just a newbie and don't have many experiences Smile

P.S: Ubuntu 64 bits rocks, stock kernel > 900 fps. Thank you so much Big Grin

I wrote that I would always recommend it, but I have for a long time not tried 32 bit. I still suppose 64 bit is better, but I have no proof, so to say...

I am having problems with ubuntu 64 bit. With stock kernel, I 've got > 900 fps. But after trying to compiling a new kernel, I've got only 49x fps. When I boot with stock kernel, I 've got only 49x fps too.

then you apparently changed something else as well... I don't know many things that limit the fps in a recent kernel. are you sure you use fps_max 0? did you follow a specific guide for the kernel configuration?
