Network Issue or Box Issue?
#1
Hi Guys,

Having an odd recurring issue that happens every now and then.

When I have a look at anyone's ingame information that are using on of our servers, it responds as "server not responding" refresh a few times and nothing, however if i try and join via IP it works fine.

Here is an example:

I have talked to the NOC team and they assure me it isn't a network issue, however I don't understand as it happens on every machine on our network including machines that I have rented to clients.

Any suggestions?

Are you running some kind of firewall like CFS? Try running 'tcpdump -vvv not tcp port 22 not udp port 53 not tcp port 80' to see whats happening..

Assuming SSH isn't running on 22 I'd be running not tcp port xxx?

i had a similar problem. the router block the ports. you have to activate some routines for it. open some ports between 27000 and 28000. the problem is that hlsw like steam bombed the router with udp pakets and it closed the connecten, because of safety. at my router after 5 minutes i can ping it again.

This is a dedicated machine Colo'd at a datacenter. There shouldn't be any router issues.

Have you forwarded all the necessary ports? For ex. 1200 UDP?
