Odd problem with port 27010
#1
I have a CS:S server using the port 27010 which works fine but
my friend can not connect to this server and not any other cs:s server using this port. However in other games such as TF2 this port works just fine.
We've been trying to solve this for quite a while but havn't found any solution. I find it odd that he can connect using this port in other games but not cs:s, any ideas?

don't use 27010 as port, that one is used by srcds for other things! if it works sometimes it might be "accidentally" only... use ports >= 27015

the server is rented and this port seems to work for everyone else as well as in other games like TF2 and so on. As i said this is only occuring in CS:S.
and port 27010 should not be a problem since other GSP's use this port aswell. And if what you say would be the case then no one should be able to connect to the server , this is not the case
because everyone else is able to connect

edit:
after some more testing , we've found that no computer on the home network can use port 27010 in CS:S
but other applications can. and it is not blocked in any way by firewalls. ..

I've been using port 27010 for a Gmod server since about August, it's been fine until now. When the port is set to 27010 in the autoexec.cfg/command line, the actual port taken by SRCDS is 27011.

I've noticed this happen with a few ports, so I'm wondering whether there's an underlying explanation.

I'm running Windows Server 2003 x64.

make sure there is no application running that uses that port (e.g. a hanging srcds not responding but still keeping that port open). I don't know how to find out which application uses what ports on windows, on linux I could help you more :-)

Following command blurbs out which ports are open and which process uses it.
Code:
netstat -nab

Read carefully the output and try to find out where it says "srcds.exe". I'm not running srcds on Windows, so I'm not saying anything more definite Smile

I am running a Left4Dead server on port 27010 have you tried connecting directly to your modem? If so try contacting your ISP.
