I select internet, but the game is still local.

Hey I forwarded ports 27015 to 27020 for srcds. I even checked that they were open. I can't use internet mode on srcds any help?

Forward ports from 27000-27050 TCP,UDP, and 1200 TCP,UDP.
Turn on your server (must be up to "VAC activated") and then check port 27015.
Are you entering your server via LAN Tab?
Are other people joining your server via your EXTERNAL IP, not your internal IP? (http://www.findmyip.com)
They cannot connect by steam friends.

Try unblocking it from firewall if blocked.
Use your external IP that's your local IP. Get it at the link JazzAX posted.

Try this connect EXTERNALIP:27015

This is the right way of doing this as, whenever I go through this problem.

As, If it gets blocked, I always prefer to go for Unblocking it from Firewall which results the best to me.

When you join through the lan tab. Think of it as only the computers on your network. When you join through the lan tab you are joining your local ip. Which other people can't connect to. Your external IP everyone can connect to most likely.
