cs go server up but not showing any signs of being able to connect

I followed the directions in this http://csgo.gamebanana.com/tuts/11420 exactly.

My server starts normally, it displays the normal messages. However, when i try to connect, the client fails after ten retries, and the server shows no signs of having received any kind of data from the client. I try to connect from the computer that runs the server, and from other computers in my lan. The server shows up in the browser, but still fails to connect. Any help would be appreciated. All my configs and stuff can be found in that guide

yeah um i made one a while ago and same thing! just buy one. i did fix it however it was about an year ago and i dont remember. dont host off same computer try to use different computer for the server
