Hyperthreading & fps
#1
Hi,
I have a Xeon X3450 @ 4x 2.66GHz with hyperthreading, running debian squeeze 64 bits.

1) What about of quality running srcds games on virtuals cores ?
I'm starting benchmarking but I want user experience with HT.

2) What about fps ?
I have read http://www.fpsmeter.org/p,fps.html .
On a cs:s match server, the tickrate max is 66, the best fps_max is realy equal to the tickrate ? fps_max 0 is deprecated ?

Thanks in advance.

Just put fps_max "66.67" in your server.cfg.

not really experience, but I would expect HT to be useful if you host many small servers and counter-productive if you host few big servers. everything else probably depends highly on the exact scenario.

yes it is really the case, else I wouldn't write that there and run my own servers like that Toungue

Don't run it with 66 fps. A few weeks ago valve pushed an update that allows you to use decimals in your fps max number. Therfore run with 66.67 fps_max.

in principle correct, but nobody will notice the difference.
