[SOLVED] (TF2) How to distribute server sound files as archive(s)?
#1
I've put up a team fortress 2 server that uses custom sounds that plays at the end of each round, and i'm wondering if it's possible to have these sound files packed in one (or more) archives that users will download?

When doing some modding stuff using hl1 engine in the past, i seem to remember there were *.pak files that could be used, but i'm not sure about how to do it with source engine.

Can bzip2 (or pak) be used for this? And if so, could someone please give me a short rundown of how it's done?

As far as I know the only things you can put more of one in in bzip is texture files, if I'm not mistaken. I've not heard or seen anything about putting multiple sound files in just one zip. My best commendation is to try and see. Smile

I did, and it worked. The sound files were packed individually with bzip2 (i.e sound1.mp3.bz2) and the client downloaded and unzipped them like nobodys business. Great success! Big Grin (This was from http so i'm not sure if it works with regular server downloading though)
