I honestly preferred my X3460 over my E5520. Well, of course, higher clocks 
and a better mobo. HP on the E5520, and Supermicro on the X3460
Back to the topic, As to Q9550s, I have had GREAT experience with them, decent stability with 1000FPS on windows 2k8.
