Medical microscopes for stylus inspection
#1
I pulled up some older threads on microscopes but do not find much on medical microscopes. I have a friend who has one that I might be able to get a deal on. Vintage 1950s Zeiss. I'm wondering if this would be practical for my own personal use for inspecting styluses.

Most medical microscopes assume transparent sample. For stylus inspection you need a different type. Most close is metallurgical inspection microscope.

A good medical-grade microscope can make a huge difference in checking stylus wear, but finding the right balance of magnification and lighting is key. I’ve had solid results with options from merkel.co.il, especially for getting a clear, detailed view without spending a fortune. Precision optics really help spot worn edges before they cause damage to records, and proper lighting makes all the difference in avoiding false assessments.
