[Help]TF2 server optimization.
Following, the server upgrades to a phenom X4 2.6GHZ with 4gb DDR2 ram. Here are what we have done so far:

When the server operates under Ubuntu 7.xx, fps was bound to 100 when idle and drops to 15 or lower when there are 25 players. I heard that there are commands to enable multithreaded computation like mat_queue_mod, r_sse2, etc.. and commands like r_sse2,r_3dnow could not be enabled. I wonder if I need to reinstall the server to enable them? (I downloaded the srcds_i486 when the server is still using Sempron) Or would they help at all?

After upgrading the Ubuntu to 8.04, the generic kernel gives 1000fps when empty, and the performance while there are some players are not yet known (not yet tested ... server is empty @ morning Toungue ). I need the server fps goes above 100-150 and that s all, 1000fps is not my objective. I prefer less CPU utilization, stable FPS and more servers.

So my questions are:
1.Would those multithreaded commands help at all? Do I need to re-install the server again for an appropriate srcds executable?

2.janne emphasized linux-rt, did anybody compare different kernels with the rt one?
The rt kernel seems to dislike virtual box ... This is a trial I was performing under a VM operating under Ubuntu 8.10 using my desktop.

Latest report: FPS drops to 14 with 28 players
1 core 100% usage
Max tickrate for TF2 is 66 fps not 100 fps

Did you set fps_max tickrate and client update rate to the correct values? On my system I only get 500FPS on the server havn't seen anyone get more
tick rate is 66
sv_maxupdaterate 120
sv_minupdaterate 20
sv_maxrate 40000
sv_minrate 40000

The server could get 1000FPS without any (or until 15-20) players but that s meaningless ... I care abt how it performs when there are many players..
When you say 500FPS, is it stable? Is it always 500 with the server being full and empty?
