Tutorial: How to setup a TF2 server

Two ways.
1) Give then rcon access.
2) Install a server-side admin mod. I would recomend BeetlesMod or SourceMod. BeetlesMod is the easiest (I use it). SourceMod has a LOT more options and plugins (and generally more stable after TF2 updates).

Hi,
I followed all your instructions but when i start the server everything (using the .bat command) everything is fine but what is the IP address of my server? What is the address that i can put in the find servers option in TF2. I tried the all of the ones that come up on the command prompt window and i also cant even find my server name when i go to Find servers in TF2.

Please Help!

P.S. I have attached a picture that shows my server is running.

http://www.whatismyip.com use the ip you get from there and add the port the server runs on (defult is 27015)

also if you have a router you have to portfoward it if you did not do so already

why have you said Counter-Strike will that work with TF2 of do u choose Steam Server instead

It's works for all yian_guruga.
The steam server page works too

so once i have done this for the internet server do i then just run the command "c:\HLserver\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf -hostport 27015 +maxplayers 24 +map ctf_2fort" and my friends will be able to access it

how would i get Mani Admin plugin to work with this do i just install it the same way on in to this server file


p.s i have vista if that may cause any problems

IF your router is configured correctly and IF nothing else is blocking it and you change -hostport to -port then it should work.

Also, don't use mani with TF2, use sourcemod or beetlesmod.

What do i use as the IP address to send to people

Your external IP.

Go here to find it: http://www.myip.dk

And then just add :27015 after it.
(If that's your port number!)

ok thanks but when i try to enter the game it says

the game has not started

is there a command i need to use
