Crash servers since the steam 's updating

Hello Everybody,

I need some help Sad

Since the last source update, I had a first server wich crash and an other 24h latter.

All of them give me the same answer

Quote:
Updating server using Steam.
Checking bootstrapper version ...
Updating Installation
Checking/Installing 'Counter-Strike Source Shared Content' version 61

Checking/Installing 'Base Source Shared Models' version 4

Checking/Installing 'Base Source Shared Sounds' version 4

Checking/Installing 'Base Source Shared Materials' version 8

Checking/Installing 'Source Dedicated Server Linux' version 75

HLDS installation up to date

Console initialized.
Game.dll loaded for "Counter-Strike: Source"
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0xf7dba220 ***
./srcds_run: line 344: 5625 Abandon $HL_CMD
Add "-debug" to the ./srcds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help with solving this problem
mercredi 14 mars 2007, 07:07:32 (UTC+0100): Server restart in 10 seconds

I have try to delete everything there was on the addon folder to be sure that it didn't come from a plug in.

As you can see, my English is very bad, and I am not a genius in this part of servers...

I hope that you could help me.

Thanks a lot.

RE: Crash servers since the steam 's updating

We have found something else.... The problem seem to come from the modelsound.cache.
This is the only one who change between a working configuration and a no working configuration.
It seem to change itself alone....
Have you got any idea to resolve this problem?

the modelsound.cache is, as the name suspects, a cache file. It changes all the time, there's nothing you can do about it. That's why I don't think the problem lies there.

It's probably one of your plugins, are you running any? if so disable them one by one and see when it stops crashing.

RE: Crash servers since the steam 's updating

Thanks a lot for your answer Smile
After crash, without reinstallation , we have test whithout any plug 'no mani, no evetsrcipt, .... nothing) and the server didn't "live" again.
We have try whith a complet reinstalation and puting one per one each folder.... The server didn't crash, with the plugins.
It's why we have shearch for something which change between the two 'configuration'.... The onlyone was the modelsound.cache.
Now, when the server is out, I have only to delete it to make the server working again.
I don't really know how the modelsound.cache is working, maybe that one of my plugin is making someting wrong with it?
Do you have any idea to find it?
Thnaks a lot again Wink

I don't know how the modelsounds.cache is working either but it's used by the SRCDS process, just like the server.dll, it's part of the core.
There shouldn't be anything wrong with it at all.

RE: Crash servers since the steam 's updating

This line would do the trick

./steam -command update "counter-strike source" -dir . -verify_all

-verify_all = steam checks the file inside and fix it to latest update , like it reads inside the dll or exe

Dont use ./srcds_run -autoupdate on a linux its not safe try ./steam if hldsupdatetool is installed and unpacked

how do you gonna update srcds_run if you running it XD , use ./steam

wget http:// link to updatetool

chmod -R 777 * (on that folder)

./hldsupdatetool.bin

chmod -R 777 * (on that folder)

./steam

say YES

./steam -command update "counter-strike source" -dir . -verify_all
