srcds memory?
#1
i have limited memory dedicated to me on my server ..
sorry about the sketchy info, i am a n00b.

When i first ran srcds it said something to the effect of 'FAILED ...requires 64mb to run ... retrying with 48mg' or somehting ..

So i upgraded my account with my povider .. now it runs without issue. .. HOWEVER ... is uses ALL the availible memory rather than the 64mb that is originally was looking for;

is there a way i can limit what is uses? some kinda srcds command line option err something?

thx

I don't know of any way to lower the ram usage. I have a server and it uses around 200MB to 250MB of RAM, so I would say you want at least 256MB guaranteed.

-heapsize 6400 ( I think thats 64mb)
add that to your startup line (not recommended to run under 256 mb of ram

err, that sounds like a vserver? if so, expect poor performace, even if you get it running ;-)

it is a vserver;

i was a bit leary aswell, but its really running quite well, as-is with a 256mg ram cap .. however is does have a 1024 MB 'burst' ram availble, it doesnt use squat for cpu .. so even thou ram seems to be nearly maxed, everything runs very smooth, without issues

ill keep that heep-size option in mind, (for sure if i run a 2nd srcds) and play with it over the next few days,

Thx guys Smile
