Is it true that with a good connection and a good computer, that you can run a lag free dedicated server? If so, how did you do it. Because i have a very good computer and a very good connection but never NEVER have i had a lag free dedicated server. Explain the start up command line, .cfg files, everything. I want to know how. Thank you.
Is it true?

Is it a separate computer from the one you play on? If not, I wouldn't recommend playing and hosting on the same computer.
Nah it's the same PC. Does it make a big difference? How do i set processor priority to high in the start up command line?

Yes, it makes a big difference. I would recommend getting a new computer to host the server, or just renting.

I'll have to agree with beaver and say I wouldn't recommend hosting off the same computer you play on. However, if you're not using a control panel and looking to start your server in high priority, use the following command line... start /high c:\srcds\srcds.exe -game cstrike -console +ip 0.0.0.0 -port 27015 +maxplayers % +exec server.cfg +map de_dust2 -tickrate 100 +fps_max 600 and you can modify that to fit your server needs. ![]() |
