		Ok, when i run the shortcut to srcds with the line C:/xxxx/xxxx -console -game cstrike +map de_dust -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate then i double click the shortcut and a dos promt flashes and its gone... nothing else happens, what did i do wrong?

		Try opening the cmd.exe and going into the srcds dir and start srcds from there as well and see what happens.

		You would start the srcds.exe
so if srcds was in c:\srcds..
cd c:\srcds
srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map de_dust -maxplayers 16
-autoupdate is for linux only.

		it depends on where you installed it i suppose. My forte is linux.. i would create a folder and put the steam binary in there. if you installed the source dedicated server via steam Play games GUI window.. then i belive it would be in your steam folder..

		it shouldn't pop anything up if you run the exe in cmd.exe instead of using the shortcut..

		go into the directoy you're trying to run the command and type in dir /w copy and paste that to here, or take a screenshot.

		im re downloading the srcds just in case..
