SRCDS wont start!
#1
Okay I've installed srcds about 4 times already with no success, every time is the same. It will download to 100% but at the end I will get the, "Connection Reset, WinSock Error 10054 "Connection reset by peer" error, everything is installed, but when I try to run the Srcds.exe absolutely nothing happens. I've read somewhere that you have major problems running on 64bit, but none running on 32bit. Well I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 SP2 and during my research there is no 64bit Win XP MCE, only 32bit. I am completely stuck and I just want to get my CSS server running. I never had this problem back when I was running SRCDS on version 17, but every version that I try to run after, have been nothing but hell. Can anyone help me with my problem?

P.S.
Here is a picture to help.

Try DMZ on router. Connection reset by peer got something to do with closed ports. Also happens with FTP in passive mode, when ftp wants to open to a closed port other than port 21.

Okay now here is where you find out that I am a noob, what the hell is a DMZ? Unless you mean Demilitarized zone, but if it is what I think it is, how do you do that? Oh and I'm not using a router, I'm using an Intel® Pro/100 VE modem. Smile

Oh I almost forgot to mention, at the beginning of the download after you type hldsupdatetool -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir C:\Srcds and hit enter, it says:
Checking Bootstrapper version ...
Updating Installation
No installation record found at C:\Srcds
No installation record found at C:\Srcds
No installation record found at C:\Srcds
No installation record found at C:\Srcds
No installation record found at C:\Srcds.
Then it starts installing, does that have a negative affect on the download?

Ok I've figured out my problem, what I put in the TargetLine: C:\Srcds\srcds.exe -console -game "Counter-Strike Source" -port 27017 +map de_dust2 +maxplayers 18.
What I figured out was instead of "Counter-Strike Source" I should've put cstrike :/. I'm such an idiot.
Thank you for your guys support, though my problem was completely different from what Arjen recommended I do. :/

Just told what "Connection Reset, WinSock Error 10054 "Connection reset by peer" is about...
"No installation record found at C:\Srcds" is completely different

Don't care about the "connection reset, winsock error", i've got the same thing when i downloaded it and it works very well.
