What are some of the key features that define a good jacket for skiing?

Knowing which jackets are best for skiing is a big decision. It really depends on what kind of skiing you do. Someone who likes to explore the woods while skiing will want a different jacket than someone who enjoys hitting the trails and bumps. Generally, a jacket that is warm is best for hitting the trails. A medium or heavyweight jacket is the best option for the trails, but someone who enjoys the woods might want to go for a lighter jacket. For someone who is hitting the bumps, a light jacket is best for movement and ease of use. A lot of people find hoods to get in the way, so choose wisely.
