System time went backwards by 1 second
#1
I have two servers running on one box (ubuntu 8.04). One server, a 16 slot Gun Game server, never experiences this problem. The other, normal CS:S server, stock maps and no modifications other then the mani, keeps getting this error. When it gets this error, it hangs. Not always, but most of the time. The debug file just outputs my command line to start the server. But I use the same style command line as my GG server, only difference, the directory, obviously, and port number and starting map. I have reinstalled the server, and changed its directory name from srcds_1 to srcds_3 just to see if that had any difference. I also have deleted all the ranks and stats to see if it was a memory issue. No luck. Anyone got an idea?

More info:
Ubuntu 8.04
P4 3.0ghz (socket 478)
1gb Corsair ram

Do you have your config_hz set higher then 1500? If so, this can sometimes cause problems with NTPD and will most likely cause the error you are talking about.

Hey thanks for the reply...how would I change this... Through terminal? or is it in a file in the scrds directory.

Have you modified your kernel? If not, then this is probably not the answer you are looking for.

Yeah, I haven't. I did notice that my system time is set to manual. So I downloaded ntp and set it to synchronize with an ntpd server, one in NYC, (I'm on Long Island, NY). I haven't gotten anymore messages about time since then, lets hope this works. If anyone else has any other tips about this, it would be appreciated.
