Anyone figure out the cvar? I found "director_force_versus_start" but its a cheat, so it cant be the proper way to enable it. Anyone have a clue?

Cool, Here are some other commands I found in some other thread around here which are useful for hosting a private game:
+sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0 +sv_public 0 +sv_password secret please post your any others you guys might find which are useful.
After some trial and error, it looks to me like the right way to do versus is, you're supposed to change the map to the ones with _vs_ in the name, such as l4d_vs_hospital01_apartment and it automatically puts it in versus mode. No need to even bother doing director_no_human_zombies, in fact we're probably not supposed to even mess with that cvar.
Some more useful cvars: sv_steamgroup <number> - The ID of the steam group that this server belongs to. You can find your group's ID on the admin profile page in the steam community. You find that number by going into your group's profile (only group admins can do this) and its on the profile, at the top. sv_steamgroup_exclusive - If set, only members of Steam group will be able to join the server when it's empty, public people will be able to join the server only if it has players. Another goodie I discovered was how to modify that banner in the upper right when you hold tab. Look for host.txt in the left4dead directory. Load up the URL that it contains to see how its done. Its just an html file with a single inline image, make your own html, and image of the same dimensions, put it on your webhost, change host.txt to contain that URL and thats it. http://www.nom-nom-nom.us/motd/banner.htm is my own if anyone wants another example.
