Questions about the materials dir

Hey there i had a question. I was wondering if i deleted the materials dir and then ran the update would it replace that and download the whole dir again? I am asking because i ended replaced some materials in the materials dir that i didn't want to replace so now i want the originals back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

yes, however, you would have to delete installrecord.blob first
