I thought this might interest some people:
I run Windows 2003 Server Standard edition on all my machines.
Here are the processors I used (all running at default clock speed)
1 x Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (Kentsfield) (total 4 cores)
2 x AMD Operon 270 Dual Core (Italy) (total 4 cores)
1 x AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core (total 4 cores)
2 x Intel Xeon (old ones - Prestonia) 3.2GHz with HT Off. (total 2 cores)
For Counter Strike Source Dedicated Server RESULTS::
The Q6600 runs at: 0.6% CPU per a player (135 Capacity @ 80%)
The Opterons at: 1.0% CPU per a player (80 Capacity @ 80%)
The Phenom's at: 1.7% CPU per a player (47 Capacity @ 80%)
Xeons at: 2.8% CPU per a player (29 Capacity @ 80%)
These results are based on averages when the server load was with 20, 30 and 50 players.
Next system I will get:
Dual Quad core xeons 5400
My first 8 core system! So exciting!!
