I'm having this slight problem with this random skipping lag where everyone freezes for a few seconds. When this happens the tickrate drops to 0 - 20.
CPU usuage is below 30%, however I haven't been able to view the CPU usuage when this spike happens.
I had this problem on our last dedicated box as well.....
- Windows 2003 Server
- Q9300 + 4GB ram
This is on a 100mbit port.
All servers are set to use a certain CPU core.

Really the only option is to look at the CPU usage.

Right I've found something interesting out.
It always happens around 9 - 10pm.
Any ideas?

well that wouldnt happen at a data center. Have you checked your system scheduler?

I actualy have a similar problem. Everything is normal, server load at 30%, and then in a sudden everything freezes for 3 seconds. When I check the CPU charts. the CPU dropped to 0% for a fraction of a second at the time of the freeze.
Unfortunatley this happens once every 2 to 3 days that I still have yet to find the cause. It could be hardware or network or software for all I know at this stage.
Because the CPU drops to 0% i'm thinking network may not have much to do with it.... Try leaving your Task Manager running so you can check your CPU usage when it happens. See if we both have a similar problem

OK, I got it twice tonight, just got one in a match which was rather annoying.
I'll try and watch the CPU monitor, its kind of hard to catch it tho.

just leave the cpu monitor running, as soon as you see it spike, alt tab and check the readings

what process priority are they set to ? some times ive heard of servers doing this when its set to realtime or high process priority. Try and lower it to normal or above normal.
