how to fix error "compression failed, winsock error 0 no error"

THIS GUIDE IS FOR WINDOWS!!
MAKE APPROPRIATE EDITS TO DIR NAMES!
ALSO WORKS FOR LINUX!

whilst runing this program and it updates/installs the all files needed i came across an error

"compression failed, winsock error 0 no error"

no one has posted much on this error so i thought i would as i have just got this error
del c:\hlserver\clientregistry.blob
del c:\cssource\installrecord.blob

Then open "cmd"
type hldsupdatetool -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir c:\cssource
hit enter

start to pray i did this and works lovely

updater will verify all files and continue with the rest of download =) hope this helps

This could help but the problem is not in the blob files. More on this here.

Though i'm sure that winsock error(s) have the potential to be quite more that deleting the blob files,this actually worked for me.
