I have used both linux and windows for a cs server. The windows server i can log on to rcon and theres no problem. but with linux rcon never works.
i have looked through this forums i might have missed it

Ubuntu 7.10 just the basic server if there is a firewall it the one that comes with ubuntu

yea it doesnt have one installed by default
your telling i the local ip or the wan ip in the launch params?

What? are u mean like this ./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +map de_dust -maxplayers 8 -autoupdate
