Great forum board! I am enjoying reading all the threads and they have been really helpful. I only have a few more issues to iron out, so if someone can point me int he right direction please!
1) My server is not showing up in the server list or when I add it to my favorites! I have tried manually adding the ip in my favorites but it does not show up as an active server, HOWEVER...when I double click i CAN connect! weird!! I've also noticed that even though I have -port 27015 set in my command line, the ACTUAL port the game runs on is something like 66019!! I have set up my router correctly, as I have run many game servers in the past.
2) I get a lot of lag when I connect that seems to make my player skip, reload longer, pause and just overall FAIL! lol. When I change maps via rcon everything seems fine again. sv_unlag and sv_maxunlag are not recognized commands when I put them in my server.cfg
Any help with these would be greatly appreciated! Thanks people!

Well, I seemed to have solved problem 2. I installed the server on a second PC and that seems to have diminished most of the lag.
Im still having is issues with the IP however. I do have it set to sv_lan 0 but now it doesnt show up in my favorites! It does however show up in my lan games. lol. what am I doing wrong here?

If you are on the same network as your server, you can only view it as LAN. Ask a friend to join using the IP from whatismyip.com

ok, gave that a try, but no luck again.
Weird thing is...when I was running the server from this PC (my game PC) I could see it in the Internet list and my buddies could join. But now that I've moved the server to my second machine, they can't see or join it, and I can only see it as a LAN game. I've changed all the IP's on the router. Are there any other ports I need to open other than 27015?

Any reason for having clientport there? If not, just get rid of it. Also try dmzing your server.

Oh dont get rid of clientport then. But i wouldnt be suprised that playing and hosting on the same computer is one of the problems here. Your router is also a pain. Dlinks have been found to do crazy stuff with ports.

gah. lol. I'm not hosting and playing on the same PC. hehe. PC1 is a server, PC2 is the game machine.
Also, when I put the server on the DMZ, nothing changes. I tried putting the server on the DMZ, rebooting the router, the modem and the server. Then gave the IP to my buddy but e couldnt see it. I also joined my own server (from teh game machine) and had a couple of friends try to Click on my name in steam and Join Game that way....al they got was "No Response from Server". Strange.
I did notice in my logs however, that 2 people joined my server when I wasnt home. LOL.
I dont get it. I've never had so many issues getting a server up. haha
btw...what other ports do i need to open?
