Server Getting assigned the local loopback IP
#1
Hi anytime I try to start up my source server it applies the internal loopback IP address, now when I try and use the ip switch it will only assign the Private IP and not an outside IP. When I do try and assign an outside IP I get the error:
NNET_OpenSocket: bind: Cannot assign requested address Couldn't allocate the dedicated server UDP port

I have all the required ports opened and the PC DMZ'ed. Another note is that when the server is assigned the loopback address I can connect to it from the LAN but not from the internet.

I'm Running SuSE 9.1, Kernal 2.6.5, Glibc 2.3.3 Please help thanks in advance!

are you able to read the server from outside using the LAN IP?

thats your private IP, only you can connect via that IP. try using hlsw http://www.hlsw.net or gametiger.com

Don't forget to lookup your actual IP, not your lan IP.

http://www.gametiger.com/search?address=24.8.95.158+&game=all

Thats what i get, you must be missing some ports, or your isp is blocking something.

Ya, I figured it out I was trying to force an IP on it and it didn't like it so I let it auto assign the IP and I had to change the port to 44968 cause my ISP was blocking the normal 27015 port. Thanks for the help though :-D
