Problem starting srcds_run on dedicated server..UPDATE

Ok here's my problem.. I stopped srcds_run on my rented server with the app HLSW.. and wanted to restart srcds my self for the first time with PuTTY(ssh client)..

I'm NOT trying to install srcds!!! just to (re)start srcds_run.. I need a working command line for linux to start srcd_run!!

First had no clue how to do this..so I decided to take a look on this website.. I've seen lots of people with all sorts of problems but non with the one I have..

The server has te following Distro & kernel:
os = Debian GNU
kernel = 2.4.27-1-386 #1
machine = i686

I dont have any linux exprience so sum help would be great..

my server root looks like this:
SRCDS (map) in that map are my BIN , CSTRIKE & HL2 maps!! the srcds files are also located in the SRCDS map..

so "incogs" I guess that;
./srcds_run -console -game cstrike -port 27016 +map de_dust +maxplayers 12 -autoupdate ; wouldn't work!!! because I'm getting the same message.. "Invalid game type 'cstrike' sepecified."

My host gave me this line;
srcds/srcds_run -console -port 27016 -game /cstrike/ +map de_aztec +maxplayers 12
and i'm still getting "Invalid game type 'cstrike' sepecified."

His answer was just ask me to restart.. NO NO NO NO.. always when I need to configure something he's offline to restart it for me.. please help.. I really need to do this my self..

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Could anyone show me correct a command line to (re)start the server..THNX

edit;; I closed the server by RCOM command.. typing "quit" in the game console.. maybe this something to do with it not starting correctly ??

hmm even stranger.. I tweaked the command line a little since I thought it makes sensce that it gives "Invalid game type 'cstrike' sepecified." because the cstrike map isnt in de main root.. its in a SRCDS map..
So I used;
srcds/srcds_run -console -game srcds/cstrike -port 27016 +map de_dust +maxplayers 12 -autoupdate

but now it says;
Auto detecting CPU
Using AMD Optimised binary.
Source Engine binary './srcds_amd' not found, exiting
za mrt 19 04:24:15 CET 2005: Server Failed

any tips ??

okay I am not very familiar with your version of linux. i don't know how much it'll actually matter, but I have always used some variant of redhat, currently using redhat EL 4.

anyways, if I get an error message like that, I'd delete the binaries (srcds_1486; srcds_i686; srcds_amd) and the installrecord.blob, then run the update command and redownload them.

What directory are in when you run that command? are you in your srcds directory (one up from the cstrike directory)? The reason I ask is, I don't see why you have to use -game /srcds/cstrike.

no i think thats the point.. i use putty to login on the server.. and located in my default root my host set up for me.. the same as my ftp.. so im in the ./ root i guess..

in the ./ is the map srcds and that map contains the bin, cstrike and hl2 maps and the srcds files..

thats why I assumed that the correct line should be.. -game /srcds/cstrike or atleast /cstrike

the weird thing is.. my host gave me this line:
Srcds/srcds_run -console -port 27016 -game cstrike +map de_aztec +maxplayers12 &
and i'm still getting "Invalid game type 'cstrike' sepecified..
I also tried it without the & at the end and still the same message..

and he said it works for him to reset srcds on my rented server with that line.. and he's also using putty.. could it be that its because he has more rights on the server?? because he is able to acces everything ofcourse..

maybe also to be important to note.. that he's using more srcds servers on that machine.. could that change anything in the line??

and anybody know if there isnt an automated restart script to restart srcds_run.. so that my host could enter the correct line and it will restart itself after a couple of seconds/minutes ??

thnx for the help btw..
