Startup Error: engine_i486.so/VENGINE....

I updated our TF2 linux server this morning to the latest version (update showed no errors), but upon starting up the server I get the following error:

$ ./srcds_run -console -game tf +map cp_gravelpit +maxplayers 22
Auto detecting CPU
Using SSE2 Optimised binary.
Server will auto-restart if there is a crash.
AppFramework : Unable to load module bin/engine_i486.so!
Unable to load interface VENGINE_HLDS_API_VERSION002 from bin/engine_i486.so
Sat Dec 22 10:09:09 EST 2007: Server Quit

I havent seen any other posts regarding this specific error (unless I have teh wrong search terms).

Any suggestions? (Why does this always happen when I'm on vacation...)

Not sure if this will work, but try deleting your bin folder (which contains engine_i486.so) and running hldsupdatetool again to re-download the files.

It may be a side-effect of a dodgy update - a google search reveals a few other people with your same problem, but no fix as of yet.

Valve has a strange way of saying 'Happy Holidays'.
*waits not so patiently for a fix*

Fix is out.

with older OS's are seeing.

Hmm...now i use the old command and now there is the following message...:

Old Command:
Code:
./srcds_run -console -game tf +map cp_dustbowl -maxplayers 24 -port 27015 -debug

And now the error is:
Code:
Invalid game type 'tf' specified

Why this now Oo[/code][/quote]
