problem gettin server to allow others to access it

Ive installed it all right up and added the ip to it and run it but it still comes up to a lan server and wont let people outside the lan to join? Need HELP it says it has no heartbeat or authentication and stuff

first you need to make a static IP........one that isn't going to change. You can call your router's technical support and they will walk you through the process (assuming they aren't total jackoffs). You will need to forward your ports and it's best to have your router's tech support walk you though, because although portforwarding.com is a great resource, it can't keep track of the small differences in time and versions. I found after DLink walking me through everything, updating my router firmware, and entering in my static IP I was able to run my server and others were able to join.
