Any way to stop console spam for a CSS surf server?
#1
If anyone has ever hosted surf server in source, you're aware how the console window is constantly spammed with crap such as "datatable out of range...blahblahblah...clamping", etc. I'm not sure if this has any significant impact on performance, but is there any way, short of hacking srcds or something, to stop the console from spamming this crap?

Like I said, I'm not sure how much of an impact this has on actual server performance, but if I'm remote desktop'd to my server while there are a lot of people on, nothing will even respond until srcds has stopped it's spam, then my clicks/keystrokes/whatever will go through; but they won't until the spam stops. It'd also be nice to be able to actually read the chat which is going on with the server and not worry about it dissapearing when the console goes crazy.

Could just use something like HLSW.. both at home or on the server.

Moves server administrating to a 3rd party software without all the console spamming and also allows for control of multiple servers.

This looks interesting...I'm going to look more into this...

But as for actually eliminating the spam, I figure it puts quite a load on the cpu trying to print all that crap to the console as fast as it's happening, perhaps taking away from the actual processing which needs to be done.

Printing text to a console will take up practically nothing resource wise - not enough to notice an impact of gameplay at least.

Sadly, i know of no way to filter the output from console, and i don't think there even is :/
