Best Admin Mod?
#1
Hey, so I got my server running and am wondering what the best Admin mod is. I have looked at Mani Admin Plugin but it looks like it won't work very well for the new source engine. Then I have been looking at amx mod x which looks really nice but are there any others? What I want to be able to do.

1) All common admin functions
2) Change my ip so users can connect through "connect daneshea.com"
3) Have online stats that can be checked on Daneshea.com
4)Have Deathmatch and gungame if I want it

Any recommendations? and if so what plugins do I need for numbers 2, 3, 4?

Thanks in advance
Dane Shea

you're looking at:
1) beetlesmod or a combination of things from mattie's eventscripts for admin
2) you didn't state where your server is? if it's dedicated all you need to do is register the name and point to that ip
3) use psychostats or hlstatsx
4) sourcemm has mods for dm and gg as well as mattie's eventscripts.

My server is running on a linux fedora 7 box in my house and my domain is registered at b-one.net which I have ftp access to. What is beetlesmod? What is this whole thing about sourceMM just coming out? Is it compatible with any plugins? I am so confused on this new sourceMM.

you're going to have to use google for everything, there's detailed descriptions and install instructions on the homepages.

as for the domain, it's going to point to whatever server hosts your website NOT your server so you'll have to do a subdomain like "counterstrike.yourdomain.com" and have that point to your game server. your webhost will be able to help you with that.

Just create an A record that points to the IP of your server and give it the name connect, voila you're in business!

Could you go into a little more detail? What is an A record? Remember I only have ftp access to the web server with DaneShea.com but have the actual cs:s server in my house.

he doesn't want to name it "connect", that's a command in the console to connect to the server. he wants people to type "connect xxx.com" in the console and connect to his server but that isn't going to happen because xxx.com is already registered to his website, so he has to use a subdomain. again, ask your webhost if they can do it.

odds are you dont know how to administer your own dns server, which means adding an A record will be limited to your ISP who hosts your dns service for you.

this means that if they do it once for you, and your ip changes, they need to do it again.

which means you need to sign up with a dynamic dns service and run their app on your server. but it will not be css.daneshea.com for example, it will be something like daneshea.dyndns.org.

but you can have your isp create a CNAME record for css.daneshea.com to resolve to daneshea.dyndns.org.
