I'm hosting a dedicated source server (DOD:S) on a 20MB down/5 MB up connection. For some reason when I launch the server, it's fine (shows up in the master list, ping is OK and people can connect). But after a while, if I refresh steam's master list, it shows up as "not responding." When I am on the server and this happens, I get a "connection problem" message on the upper right hand corner screen. So basically the connection stops and no longer is reachable.
I tried to figure out the problem: maybe it was my ports. So I forwarded ports TCP 27015-27030, UDP 27015-27040 on my router. Didn't help. Here are my launch options that read I have to use:
-console -game dod -port 27015 +maxplayers 30 +map dod_omaha -tickrate 66
but the problem with this is that every time it launched the error "Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP port" came up. I know the port isn't the problem because I checked and it's not in use. I tried different ports, still didn't work.
Anyone else have had their servers lagging/stop responding after a while? I also noticed this started happening after that dedicated server update a few weeks ago. Any help would be appreciated.
And no, it's not my ISP. Because I have business FiOS and EVERY port is open.
Server specs: Intel Xeon dual core, dual CPU 3.4GHz, 2 GB RAM

Few things, try setting the router to DMZ or connecting the server to the line directly, no router, if you're getting the issue still check your firewalls. Keep in mind, just because you're running business FiOS doesn't mean you have access to ALL ports unless you can get a SOLID confirmation. There are ISP business services that still restrict some servers because it tends to use alot of bandwidth.
At the moment thats all I can come up with. double check you're not using the +ip switch, and if you are make sure its using your LAN ip and not your external IP.

There are no restrictions for business FiOS. It's designed for people who host servers and stuff so it's 100% unrestricted. Also, there is no modem - it's just the router that has the fiber optic connect to it.
I'm hosting the server with this guy and already tried the DMZ option. We have 5 static IPs available to use for us, so perhaps it has something to do with a routing problem, an option somewhere in the router. Thanks for your tips though, we appreciate the reply.

That may be the issue, your main interface has more than 1 address and it can use so its pretty much looking at you like "wtf?" so as Jackal said, add a +ip switch and choose one of the ips you have.
And im not saying your wrong, I'm saying because its busines doesn't mean anything, long before cable was 5mbps, nevermind fios, I had a fiber optic pipe from cox communications, it was 10mbps/10mbps and they shunned at me for runn ing ircd's and gameservers on it. They figure a business user will use it for well.. business, I.E. webhosting or database hosting. But who knows, fios could be different. Like im saying, business doesn't mean anything, hence why i said talk directly with verizon IT.

Yeah I tried the IP thing and the same thing happens: after a while the server stops responding. And about FiOS, yes it is different, because I specifically asked whether there are any restrictions and they said no. The bottom line is that the server worked fine before and then the srcds update messed everything up for me. Hopefully the next update will solve this issue.

that COULD be the problem. either disable mani, or see if there is an update to many. Normally updates break mods like mani to the point they don't work, forcing mani to update his mod, or people to disable mod.
