HELP! : ]

hey everyone what does sv_lan 0 and then also tell me what it means to have it 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 i wanna know if this affects joining though the friends list everyone tells me well i cant join ur game without looking for it on server broswer then its there. like ppl told me, half this servers are srcds so why can they join my game with out it saying doesnt responde or exist and if u can can how do u set the region like south america us west and ect.?? on the srcds ones. i host my own server on the comp i use and when im in there and playing friends try and join me though friends list and this only happens joining if there going to my "own server" so i know its not the friends list problem and then in my console i see these things saying "Bad challeng" from xx.xx.xx.xxx.xxxxx or the ip numbers are different ect. so ive been wondering these things for while plz help me. or set me up a server.cfg so this thing wont happen maybe if ur successful it might change it for me and shizzle so thanks

i suggest leaving sv_lan as 0. I dont know why exactly, but i know this works best for internet games. Also it wont prevent you connecting via LAN (although depending on your setup you may need to connect via the local address not external).

Check this link, it is mostly for linux setups however it does contain a sample server.cfg about halfway through (do a search), which i found very helpful when setting my server up.
