I run a 16 slot 66 tick and a 16 slot 100 tick server on my 2 dual core xeon 2.6 with 4 gb ram and a oc3 line. When both servers are full/max out it starts to lag and such with high choke sometimes hic-cups on the server. What should I do?

ok on net graph both servers output a strong 60s and 90-102, yet once in a while both servers will lag at the same time. Is that what you mean?

From what i remember reading awhile back before dual cores and when HT(HyperThreading) was a newer thing, Most people running servers c=dfound it better to disable SMP and run with 1 physical + 1 logical instead of 1 physical + 2 logical. disable SMP from the bios or the kernel and see if it runs better, try with just just 1 cpu if it runs good, go for 2 and see how it acts. If you plan on adding more and more servers you can then look into increasing the CPUs again.

well you cant have 1 physical and 2 logical its always been 1 to 1 and turning off smp would disbale the second proc there fore why would i used the money for the proc then?

the 1 physical and 2 logical refers to HT and dual core. With HT and dual core you have 1 physical and 2 locgical (reguardless if there is 2 physical core 2 one physical cpu). I said to disable SMP as a test, if you don't wish to do as suggested, by all means. son some linux systems the cpus tend to ping pong processes between cpus and thats what mainly will cause the lag.
This is why i said before, people find better performance with the HT disabled when running very few servers. Why do you feel the need to buy a dual cpu with dual cores if you're only running 2 servers? Not my fault you wasted money.

That machine should have no problems running those two small servers.
Do you have this machine all to yourself or is this in a shared environment (VPS)?

Right but the processes could be ping ponging between CPUs i had the issue on a dual athlon MP box back when they first came out. i never had it on a single XEON cpu.
Again i ask, why would you spend extra on a server that has 4 cpus when a single core opteron can handle the task just as good if not better. I can see if you were to put 10 servers on the box, but not 2, its a waste.
