I just rented a Dual Opteron 242 box with 2Gb Ram and a 80Gb Scsi HD. I have 2000Mb of transfer per month and it's on a 10Mbps port. Do you think I'll be able to safely host 150 public slots without overloading the box ? These would be mainly SourceDS but prolly 1/4 would be HLDS. I was talking with a friend who host and he says he can pull 125 on a Dual Xeon 2.8 but the Opterons are proven to run better which is why I was wondering if I can pull 150 with it.

Do you mean 2000GB transfer? Most providers start at 1000GB transfer.
If you meant 2000GB, no way are you gonna use it all up, but with 1000mb it's gonna be tight like the above poster stated.

Ahh, if its 2TB then no, shouldn't be a problem. You might even be able to pull more than 150 slots. how much did you pay for your server, and from where?

I'm paying $229 (Extra $25 for Windows) a month from ServerPlace.net - Their datacenter is on the GNAX network in Atlanta.

I'd say you could prolly host 50 public slots before you put too much on that CPU.
