some wierd problem
#1
Sad
I am behind a router but the ports are fowarded corectly. I know I can host a game but the only way I can get it to work is by starting a server through Hammer. So I know that the ports are forwarded correctly but when i start a server it is only visible on the lan and not on the internet.

I can't figure out if the dedicated server should have my internal ip or external ip.

Can someone help me?Smile

use your intenal ip, when YOU connect, you need to connect via your internal ip, everyone else connects using your external ip.

I am using my internal ip and I can see it on the lan servers but it doesn't show up on the Server list and no one can connect to it if they are outside the network.

I have sv_lan set to 0 and I have the ports open because I am able to host one when I do it in Hammer. I looked at what hammer was doing and the only thing I found was

Network: IP 192.168.0.52, mode MP, dedicated No, ports 27015 SV / 27005 CL

I don't know what the mode MP is or what SV / 27005 but what ever it is it works because people are able to join but its not a dedicated.

go to whatismyip.com and get your external IP address.

Then put it in "By Server Name / IP: Help?" found at this page http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?order=players then hit search and it will show your servers information including the port address that people can see from the internet.
